A major 6.5 magnitude earthquake hit the Admiralty Islands region, Papua New Guinea, on July 25, 2016, at 1939 UTC, at a depth of 10 km / 6 mi, reported the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC).

The PTWC issued a Tsunami Information Statement on July 25, 2016, at 1945 UTC.
