A super 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit north of Ascension Island, Central Atlantic Ocean, on August 29, 2016, at 0430 UTC, at a depth of 6 miles, reported National Tsunami Warning Center, Palmer, AK.
The National Tsunami Warning Center issued a Tsunami Information Statement on August 29, 2016, at 1242 am EDT.
