Rioting is ongoing in the streets of Charlotte. The governor has declared a state of emergency and ordered in National Guard and state troopers. Blacks are rioting upon the release of a video showing the fatal police shooting of Keith Lamont Scott. Rioters are demanding justice for Keith Scott.

TROUBLESOME TIMES

We have not seen such racial unrest in the United States since the Rodney King riots hit the Los Angeles area in 1992.

A growing list of murders/shootings have set off civil unrest and rioting in the last few years, as indicated below, starting with the most recent:

2016 – 2016 shooting of Dallas police officers

2016 – 2016 Alton Sterling and Philando Castile shootings

2016 – 2016 Donald Trump rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico

2016 – 2016 Donald Trump rally in Costa Mesa, California

2016 – 2016 Democracy Spring

2016 – 2016 Donald Trump Chicago rally protest

2016 – 2016 Salt Lake City, Utah

2015 – 2015 Baltimore protests

2014 – Shooting of Eric Garner

2014 – Ferguson unrest

2013 – Flatbush Riots

2012 – Anaheim police shooting and protests

2010 – Westlake District Riots

2009 – Black mob attacks white family in Akron

Prior to 2009, there were possibly one to three riots, or civil unrest incidents, recorded per year throughout the United States. What is going on in 2016?

All of the riots and protests documented above are due to racial issues, i.e.: a white cop shoots a black man, etc. Why is this so significant in 2016?

Jesus told us that this racial unrest would be a sign preceding His return:

“Nation (ethnic group [ethnos] – original Greek) shall rise against nation (ethnic group), kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be pestilences, famines and earthquakes in diverse places” Matthew 24:7.

There are ongoing famines, pestilences, earthquakes and racial unrest throughout the world today, indicators that the Lord’s return is near.

Of course, these things have occurred throughout history, but there is another sign included with these, which Jesus said would be the determining factor…

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come” Matthew 24:14.

The key to this being the generation of the Lord’s return (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) is the fact that we now have satellite and internet, which take the gospel into every nation in real time, unlike any other time throughout history.

So, with all of the other signs Jesus detailed in Matthew 24, we now have the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14, which tells us definitely that the end shall come in our generation!
