A major 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit offshore Valparaiso, Chile, on April 23, 2017, at 02:36:07.2 UTC, at a depth of 20 km, reported EMSC-CSEM.

774 major (6.0+) to super (8.0+) earthquakes hit various places worldwide over the last 1,520 days. Among these were 88 7.0+ and 9 8.0+ magnitude quakes.
