A great 7.3 quake hit the South Sandwich Islands region on December 11, 2018, at 0227 UTC, at a depth of 176 km / 109 mi, reported PTWC.
The PTWC issued a Tsunami Information Statement on December 11, 2018, at 0237 UTC.
