Love A Child – Haitian children search for food at the dump

HAITIAN POLICE OUTGUNNED BY ARMED GANGS

Haiti is under siege in certain areas and even the police respect no-go zones in some parts of Port-au-Prince.

Haiti’s 15,735-member national police force is being outgunned by gangs and paramilitary units within its own ranks.

Courts have been shut down for two months following police brutality against the clerk of the court and lawyers in October 2018.

The US State Department warned American citizens not to travel to Haiti and authorized certain non-essential diplomatic personnel and their families to leave.

There is a lot of corruption in Haiti and the police force is divided, with some ignoring orders from their police chief, taking orders directly from the palace.

Officers are being burned alive and accused of staging killings in neighborhoods and controlling gangs, some of whom have exchanged gunfire with cops, while dressed as cops, reported the Miami Herald.

In the meantime, the United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti has reduced its presence and is preparing to remove its support even further.

That’s right, when the going gets rough, the Useless United Nations gets going!

Please pray for law enforcement and the stability of the Haitian government and peace in the region, especially in areas where God’s people are working to feed the hungry and provide clothes and shelter.

The Love A Child Ministry is there in Haiti, with Missionaries Bobby and Sherry Burnette, who work endlessly with their staff to feed the hungry and provide care for many families and orphans at their complex. Please pray for their safety, as well as the safety of all the families and children who live at the orphanage and in the little homes built in their community.
