YOM KIPPUR

יוֹם כִּיפּוּר

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, begins at sunset on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. This most holy day of the year for Jews, and Gentiles if they observe it by faith, is the day that the high priest would bring the sin offering once a year into the Holy of Holies (the Most Holy Place) for the children of Israel.

The New Covenant tells us,

“This man, Jesus, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore, He is also able to save them to the uttermost who come to God, by Him, seeing He ever lives to make intercession for them; for such a high priest became us (human), Who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens, Who needs not daily, as those high priests (throughout history), to offer up sacrifice for His own sins, and then for the people’s, for this He did once, when He offered up Himself” Hebrews 7:24-27 (ET – Elim אֵילִם Translation)

“And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all who obey Him; called of God, a High Priest after the order of Melchisedec” Hebrews 5:9-10

The Prophet Isaiah said of Him,

“He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His stripes we are healed” Isaiah 53:5

Who else “fit that bill” but Jesus Christ? Not only this prophecy, but the entire Old Testament is filled with prophecies about Him, which He perfectly fulfills.

Does anyone find it strange that not long after Jesus was crucified for the sins of humanity, the high priests were no longer able to offer sacrifices in the Temple, because the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD?

Salvation is offered to everyone who repents of sin and receives Jesus as their Lord and Savior, unless a person crosses a line with God, to the point of becoming reprobate, having no conscience (Romans 1:21-32; Hebrews 6:4-6). Now is the time of salvation for everyone; tomorrow, or even the next hour, could be too late.

Hundreds of Bible prophecies have been fulfilled and those remaining shall surely come to pass. Are you prepared to stand before God and give an account of the life you have lived on this earth (Revelation 20:12-15)? If not, salvation is only a prayer away. Please visit the How Can I Be Saved page – your eternal destiny depends on it. God bless you.

“The Spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him who hears say, Come; and let him that is athirst come, and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely” Revelation 22:17
