Shabbat Shalom (שבת שלום – A Peaceful Sabbath)
The words to this song are deep. If you have ever had the “floor pulled out from under you,” or the “breath knocked out of you” suddenly, so to speak, you might have already experienced “sinking into the ocean,” where perhaps your eyes are only just above water; the feeling is surreal, like total abandonment, a void, a near “emotional death” experience, then you might have experienced all that this song is referring to; I know I have, and the song, momentarily, is a scary reminder; but at the same time, while it is déjà vu about the overwhelming oceans of life, it is also a reminder of how the Lord supernaturally picks you up in the Spirit from such depths, in a way you have never experienced before, because you are His child, then the deep spiritual experiences come, and you are never the same again…You are rock-steady in Him; nothing can move you, not the fire, not the floods, not the hurricanes, not the tornadoes, not total loss – He is there, always there; what else do we need? He provides. Now “my forehead is like a flint” (Ezekiel 3:9). Wherever you want me to go, Lord, I will go; whatever you want me to do, Lord, I will do. The tribulation brought you there. Kill me! Wonderful! I will be with you, my God – forever! Can death hold me back? Ha! Death is a lie! There is no death for the righteous, for Jesus said, “He that lives and believes in Me shall never die, do you believe this?” John 11:26. At physical death, we step out of this body, right into the presence of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8). Who can stop us, who can hinder us, who can even challenge us? We are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). We are the champions of heaven and earth. “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, that you should show forth praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1 Peter 2:9.
Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)
You call me out upon the waters, the great unknown, where feet may fail.
And there I find you in the mystery, in oceans deep my faith will stand.
I will call upon Your name, and keep my eyes above the waves,
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in your embrace,
For I am yours, and You are mine.
Your grace abounds in deepest waters,
Your sovereign hand will be my guide.
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me,
You’ve never failed and you won’t start now.
I will call upon your name, and keep my eyes above the waves,
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in your embrace,
For I am yours, and You are mine.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders,
Let me walk upon the waters wherever you would call me.
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander,
And my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior.
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders,
Let me walk upon the waters wherever you would call me.
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander,
And my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my Savior.
I will call upon your name, and keep my eyes above the waves,
My soul will rest in your embrace,
I am yours, and You are mine.
