A major 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit the W Caroline Islands, Micronesia, on December 9, 2017, at 15:14:32 UTC, reported LDEO (may not be finalized).

881 major (6.0+) to super (8.0+) earthquakes hit various places worldwide over the last 1,753 days. Among these were 97 7.0+ and 10 8.0+ magnitude quakes.
